The move comes after the National University Commission directed tertiary institutions in the country to suspend academic activities for a period of three weeks, to enable students and staff members whose voting areas are outside their school / work place, partake in the electioneering process.

Announcing the transport relief, the Kwara state commissioner for tertiary education, Alabi Afees Abolore, in a statement issued by his press secretary, Mansurat Amuda-kannike, explained that the support will be monetized and transferred to the beneficiaries after verifications.

Also, the state Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq announced free bus palliative for students of Unilorin and Kwara State Polytechnic which began on Monday, 13th February, 2014, between the hours of 6a.m. and 10am and between 3pm and 6p.m. (Mondays to Fridays).
