Son Heung-min fires Tottenham warning after Leicester horror show

Son Heung-min says Tottenham must quickly learn from their 'lesson' in Saturday's horror show against Leicester City on Saturday ahead of their Champions League last 16 tie against AC Milan.

Despite taking the lead inside 14 minutes through Rodrigo Bentancur, Spurs were thrashed 4-1 at the King Power Stadium as Nampalys Mendy, James Maddison and Kelechi Iheanacho turned the game on its head before half-time.

Harvey Barnes then netted fourth to cap a thoroughly miserable afternoon for Spurs, who also lost Bentancur to a season-ending cruciate knee ligament injury.

The shock of the result was heightened given Spurs had won their previous three games across all competitions without conceding a goal, including a 1-0 victory at home to Manchester City.

There's little time for Tottenham to lick their wounds as they travel to San Siro for the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash with AC Milan, and Son has urged his teammates to learn from their mistakes quickly.

"I can stand here and speak all day but the most important thing is on the pitch. We have to be as a unit and we have to be all together in the same way," Son told reporters. "Of course, it will be really tough, don't get me wrong. We have to be more than ready, more than 100 per cent.

"We have only a few more days so we have to recover well, eat well, sleep well and go there and give it absolutely everything to achieve our aim.

"You learn more in a bad performance than in a good one. The performance was really poor and the fans deserve more than they received.

"We are playing in the Champions League on Tuesday, this was everyone's dream and we wanted to be in this position last year.

'This could be the most important game because it's a knockout stage so we have to bounce back stronger than ever. This will be a very important game. This could be the biggest lesson for us and this lesson should not be happening in Milan."

One thing working in Spurs' favour is their head-to-head record with Milan. The two teams have only ever faced each other twice in competitive matches, in 1972 and 2011, with the Lilywhites coming out on top on both occasions.
