Invite Fani-kayode To Explain Coup Allegation, Atiku Tells DSS, Police
The spokesperson for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has called on the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Police Force and other security agencies to invite the Director of Special Projects and New Media of the Tinubu/Shettima presidential campaign Council, Femi Fani-Kayode, to explain allegations and insinuations of a planned coup by Atiku and top generals.
Phrank Shaibu, Special Assistant for Public Communications to Atiku, made the statement in response to a tweet by Fani-Kayode that Atiku had met with top army generals with the aim of disrupting the election or attempting a coup, a crime that carries the death penalty.
Shaibu emphasized that allegations of a coup should not be taken lightly as it constitutes treason, which is a serious crime.
He commended the Nigerian military for effectively disproving Fani-Kayode’s false claim, and called on security agencies to question Fani-Kayode further about the allegations.
