Polls: NANS embarks on ‘students must Vote’ campaign

The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, office of the Vice President Inter-Campus Affairs, is set to commence a tour of campuses to sensitise students on the need to come out and vote in the coming general elections.

The tour of campuses is expected to start with higher institutions in the Southern part of the country.

According to Vanessa Egbeahie, the NANS Vice President, Inter-Campus Affairs, the tour is in collaboration with SUSO Initiative.

Among the institutions to be visited are the University of Benin, Delta State University and Federal University of Petroleum Resources Delta State, Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State, River State University, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State, University of Calabar, Cross River State, University of Uyo Akwa Ibom State to mention just a few.

“This tour is tagged “Students must Vote” in collaboration with SUSO Initiative and it is aimed at reminding students of various higher institutions that they are approximately 22 million in our country’s population which simply means they can influence many things during the polls.

“We all need to come out to decide our leaders irrespective of the economic challenges we are currently facing, fuel scarcity and the unavailability of naira notes. All these shouldn’t stop us from exercising our fundamental human right and voting for the candidates of our choice,” she stated.
