Brigadier-General Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed is an army general who was recently appointed as the new Director General of the National Youth Service Corps by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Yusha’u Ahmed Early life & Professional Career

Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed was born in Kaduna on December 28, 1971. He attended MFCT Secondary School in Rubochi, Abuja, for his secondary education. Dogara was admitted to the NDA as a member of the Direct Regular Course 9 on January 4, 1997. On July 5, 1997, he was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Nigerian Army Education Corps.

Following his commission, he was assigned as an Instructor to the Nigerian Military School in Zaria. Staff Officer 3 Education in NMS, Record Officer, African Mission in Sudan (AMIS), Instructor Nigerian Army School of Education (NASE), Chief Education Officer, 3 Brigade, Military Assistance to DG NYSC, General Staff Officer G1 (Edn), HQ NAEC, and Assistant Director Education AHQ DATOPs were among his other assignments.

General Ahmed had held a number of command and staff positions commensurate with his rank and experience. Comdt, CDSS Ojo, CDSS Enugu, and CSS Ipaja Lagos are among them. NAEC’s Deputy Chief of Staff G3/G7 and the Institute of Military History’s Deputy Director. He was awarded GOC 1 Div in 2008, Comdt NAEC in 2012, GOC 81 Div in 2014, and GOC 81 Div in 2019. His most recent position was Deputy Commandant NMS.

Yusha’u Ahmed: Appointment as NYSC DG

The appointment of Brig. Gen. Y. D. Ahmed as Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps has been approved by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

The Presidency appointed Christy Uba as the most senior director after Brig. Gen. Mohammed Fadah was fired for alleged incompetence and poor performance.

The New York State Service Commission announced the promotion of its Director of Information and Communications Technology,

Christy Uba is the organization’s acting Director-General.

She made history as the first woman appointed to the NYSC since its inception about 50 years ago.

Eddy Megwa, the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, stated that the appointment came after Buhari fired Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah as DG.

Yusha’u Ahmed: Centre lauds Buhari on the appointment of Ahmed as NYSC DG

The Citizens Centre for Youth Development (CCYD) has welcomed the appointment of Brigadier-General Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed as the National Youth Service Corps’ new Director-General (DG) (NYSC).

The center praised President Muhammadu Buhari for his choice of Ahmed in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Vincent O. Unazi.

Unazi believes Ahmed is ideal for cleaning up the scheme, which has become a laughingstock due to corruption, nepotism, and bias.

Unazi described the brigadier general as competent, transparent, and focused, saying he is tailor-made for the job.

He also stated that Ahmed is well-equipped with the necessary academic and military experience and exposure to return the scheme to its former glory.

According to Unazi, the new NYSC chief is well aware of Nigerians’ high expectations and will not disappoint them.

According to the center, Ahmed is no stranger to the scheme as an insider who once served as a military assistant to one of the greatest reformers of the NYSC in the past.

Ahmed took several military courses throughout his career. Young Officers Course (Infantry), Young Officers Course (Education), Basic NAEC Officer Development Course, Basic System Approach to Training and Curriculum Development Adviser Course, and Advance NAEC Officers Course are among them.

He is a member of the Nigerian National Defence College. His civil qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Education, a History degree, a Master of Education in Educational Psychology, and a Master of Arts in Peace and Strategic Studies.
