NRC suspends Warri-Itakpe service as train derails in Kogi
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced the suspension of Warri-Itakpe rail service after a train derailed at kilometre 30 Ajaokuta-Itakpe section of the track.
Sanni Abdulganiyu, coordinator of Warri- Itakpe train service said in a statement on Sunday, January 22, that the train derailed around 12:30 pm with about 148 passengers and 30 crew members on board. No fatality or casualty was recorded.
Abdulganiyu further revealed that the corporation was able to immediately alert security personnel who were drafted to the accident scene.
