Maxwell Alejandro Frost is an American politician, activist, leader, and motivational speaker who came to prominence as the 2022 Democratic nominee for Florida’s 10th Congressional district for March for Our Lives.

Early Life

Maxwell Alejandro Frost was born on January 17, 1997, in Orlando, Florida, United States. He was adopted as an infant by a special education teacher, who migrated to the United States in the Freedom Flights, and later reconnected with his mother in June 2021. His father’s name is Patrick Frost, and his mother is Maritza Argibay Frost. He has a sister named Maria Frost. He can speak both the English and Spanish languages fluently.

He went to a local private school for his basic education. He proceeded to Osceola County School for the Arts in Orlando for his higher studies and later enrolled at Valencia College in June 2022.

Career

Frost is well-known as a politician and activist. He was active in Barack Obama’s 2012 presidential campaign. He also worked for the likes of Hillary Clinton, Margaret Good and Bernie Sanders.

He was an organizer with the American Civil Liberties Union and worked to support Florida’s 2018 Amendment 4 and to pressure Joe Biden to stop supporting the Hyde Amendment in 2019. He was the national organizer for March for Our Lives.

He was announced as the Democratic nominee for Florida’s 10th Congressional district in August 2021. He defeated Florida Senator Randolph Bracy and the former U.S representatives Alan Grayson and Corrine Brown, in the August 23, 2022, primary. Frost is expected to win the General election in November due to the district’s Democratic tilt, and if elected, he would be the youngest member of Congress and the first Afro-Cuban member of Congress. He has also been endorsed by the likes of Jesse Jackson, Bernie Sanders, and Dolores Huerta.

Frost is an advocate for gun violence prevention. He has identified environmental justice as a priority of his campaign, and also supports single-payer health care.
