Spokesman of the Command ASP Mohammad Jalige stated that operatives arrested Rilwanu Abdullahi of Damari village in Birnin-Gwari council with an AK47rifle with 600 rounds of ammunition. He added that Abdullahi was seen in a suspicious manner around Madachi area of Zaria and on sighting the operatives, he attempted to escape but was chased and apprehended.
Jalige also explained that the suspect led detectives to another location where an additional Volkswagen car was recovered with live ammunition concealed inside the fuel tank aimed at evading the security operatives.
In same vein, the Police have also confirmed the arrest of two suspects over the kidnap of Greenfield University students in Kaduna State.
Force Spokesperson CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who made this known during a media briefing in Abuja, said the suspects had confessed to the mindless murder of five of the victims before payment of ransom and eventual release of others. He added that the two suspects had also admitted to working with a kidnap kingpin to abduct and murder two police officers and one vigilante in 2021.
Adejobi said operatives had also arrested five trans-border syndicates over kidnapping operations between Adamawa in Nigeria and Burha, Fituha and Kesu in Cameroun.
