Graham Potter unsurprised by questions over his Chelsea future

Chelsea manager Graham Potter has admitted he has no complaints towards the pressure he is facing.

Hand-picked as the preferred manager of the new regime, Potter has overseen a major downturn in form from Chelsea, who sit tenth in the Premier League after a run of just one win in their last nine games in the competition.

There have been significant calls from fans for Potter to be relieved of his duties, with some even serenading former boss Thomas Tuchel during recent defeats to Manchester City and Fulham, but 90min understands the boss still retains the support of those in charge at Stamford Bridge.

"There are always questions if you don’t get results," said Potter ahead of Sunday's meeting with Crystal Palace. "I was under pressure after two defeats before the [World Cup] break, that’s from the media.

"In terms of the board, I’ve had full support. They have been very reassuring. But I’m not naïve and if anyone I work for thinks the problem lies with me they have every right to say: 'Thank you very much but it’s not working' and I accept that."

One issue for Potter to contend with is the presence of a number of unsettled players in his squad, with many looking to leave last summer and plenty still eyeing up moves away from Stamford Bridge in the coming months.

Asked whether that could be behind a low team morale, Potter stressed: "I don’t think so. From what I see they are professional, they are responsible, they are honest.

"We are in a bad moment and we have challenges. Everybody suffers from that point. January is always complicated, no matter where you are, because the window is open and human beings are human beings. But I don’t see any problems in that regard, I have the boys’ support and they have mine, and we just need to keep working."
