Pep Guardiola: 'I don't care about the Premier League & Carabao Cup'

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that he 'doesn't care about the Premier League and Carabao Cup' after Saturday's late 2-1 loss to Manchester United.

Jack Grealish came off the bench to give City the lead at Old Trafford. But Bruno Fernandes' controversial equaliser in which Marcus Rashford was offside when receiving the initial pass forward in the move from Casemiro fired up the home crowd, and the in-form England striker iced the game with under 10 minutes remaining.

City have now lost successive games after being surprisingly dumped out of the Carabao Cup in midweek by Southampton. They also sit five points behind Arsenal in the Premier League table, with the Gunners having played one game fewer.

Speaking post-match to BT Sport, Guardiola praised the performance of his side at United, before furiously insisting that he 'doesn't care' about winning the Premier League or Carabao Cup.

"We played really good, our levels against them, they were an incredible threat, incredible counter attacks. But I congratulate the team, it's a pride to come here and play with this personality, they run behind us and expect one action and punish us in transitions," Guardiola began.

"I don't care about the Premier League and Carabao Cup. We cannot win. We won [them] a lot. It's not a problem. The problem is we perform like we have done. Always we focus on that. So, Carabao Cup we are out. It doesn't matter. We perform how we perform, we are how we are. Today, we performed. And after we win, we win at another club."

Speaking on Fernandes' controversial equaliser, Guardiola said: "Rashford was offside, Bruno Fernandes no. Whether Rashford distracts or not our keeper and our central defenders, I don't know, the rules are the rules.

"Our second half was really good but of course in this stadium you have to keep doing it. We missed a little bit our threat up front, our players up front, we were a bit disconnected. But it's not wasy when they follow man-to-man. Their full-backs are close to our wingers. But yeah, I think we made a fantastic game."
