Olmo has become a key member of the Spanish national team since 2021, playing 21 times for his country in the last two years alone. But, having moved to Croatia to at the age of 16 to start his senior career with Dinamo Zagreb, he has never played professionally in his homeland.

The 24-year-old swapped Zagreb for Leipzig in January 2020 and has since played over 100 times for the German club. He has been linked Manchester United in the past, while Chelsea rumours have started circulating this month, with the Blues seemingly throwing their hat in the ring for everyone.

Olmo has insisted he is in no rush to move on from Leipzig, but has expressed his interest in Spain.

“I have a contract until 2024. Right now, I'm not thinking about that, only about the next games. We have three competitions ahead of us. Things happen so fast in football and can change all the time. I have my adviser who takes care of it. I just focus on football,” he told Bild.

“I want to return to Spain sometime, it will be great. It is my country, my league. My family and friends live there. But I am not only tied to Spain. The most important thing for me is to play in a club where I feel loved and important. Just like here in Leipzig.

“I played for Barcelona for six years when I was young. It will always be a home for me. Many of my friends from the national team play there.”

Olmo hails from Catalonia and initially started his football career in the youth ranks at Espanyol, before switching to the famed Barcelona academy, La Masia.
