Erv Hurd is a celebrity husband and an American technical director in the film industry. Throughout his career, Erv Hurd has received numerous awards and nominations for his work.

Despite being a celebrity family member, and working with famous actors all the time, Erv has kept out of the public eye and hasn’t revealed many details about his early life. Apparently, Erv grew up in California and was interested in becoming a film director from an early age. He studied film at the University of California, graduating in 1979.

Erv had a very successful career as a technical director, and was even nominated for nine Primetime Emmy Awards. He started off his career in 1979, when he worked as a video editor on an episode of the short-lived children’s TV series “Beat the Clock”. In the same year, he also worked on six sitcom “The Ropers” episodes.

In 1982, Erv started working as a technical director on the TV series “Tattletales; subsequently, his body of work includes projects such as “The $25,000 Pyramid”, “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful”, among many others. Since the mid 2000’s, Erv has regularly been commissioned to work on TV specials of popular award shows, such as American Music Awards, BET Comedy Awards, and most notably, the Academy Awards.

Since 2004, he’s been working as the technical director on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, on more than 2,500 episodes. He has been nominated for eight Primetime Emmy Awards, in the Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video for a Series category, but hasn’t won any. Furthermore, he was also nominated for nine Daytime Emmys, for his work on “The $10,000 Pyramid” and “The Young and the Restless”, winning four times, in 1987, 1990, ‘91, and ‘93.

Erv came into media spotlight when he married the famous singer and actress Chip Fields; the two tied the knot on 20 August 1994, after being in a relationship for more than five years. By the time they married, Chip already had two grown up daughters, Kim, born on 12 May 1969, and Alexis, born on 3 March 1979.

She was previously married to a non-celebrity man, whom she divorced while Kim and Alexis were still young.

Since they married, Erv has been spotted accompanying his wife on several public events, particularly charity fundraisers, although he has mostly lived away from the public eye. Erv and Chip currently reside in their house in Santa Clarita, California. In his spare time, Erv enjoys fishing with his friends, or doing woodwork in his home workshop.
