James Gunn: Future DC Video Games Will Fit in DCU Canon

The recent slew of comic book video games have strayed away from their film counterparts aside from a few costumes here and there.

However, it seems like that’s about to change on the DC side of things.

According to DC Studios Co-Head James Gunn, there are plans to connect games to the DC Universe. Gunn doesn’t give many details — he only replied “yes” to the question — so it’s not clear what these plans apply to or the range of their interconnectivity.

It’s unlikely that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be one of these games, as it’s already in the Arkham universe. DC only has one other big announced game at this time: Monolith Productions’ Wonder Woman project that it announced at 2021’s Game Awards. But it’s not clear either way where that title lands.

Gotham Knights was not tied to anything — not even the Arkham games — and that has been the trend as of late on both the Marvel and DC sides. Marvel’s Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man titles, Iron Man VR, and upcoming Midnight Suns are all their own thing and don’t connect to one another or the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
