The workers, on Wednesday protested the sacking of 200 staff by the company.

Hayat Kimya is a manufacturer of eco-friendly baby diapers and sanitary pads in the Nigerian market.

SaharaReporters gathered that the company fired the workers on Monday without providing justifiable reasons for the decision.

The protesting workers were seen at the front of the company's plant in the Agbara community of Ogun State, demanding immediate reinstating of their sacked colleagues.

"Where do they want me to start to take my certificate and be looking for a job? This is injustice; massive sacking" one of the protesters said.

In Nigeria, the unemployment rate is estimated to be around 33 percent. This figure was projected to be at 32.5 percent in the preceding year.

Chronological data shows that the unemployment rate in Nigeria rose constantly in the past years.

In the fourth quarter of 2020, over 33 percent of the labor force was unemployed, according to the Nigerian government’s statistics.
