A young man, identified as Kenneth Akena, has been shot in broad daylight with a pistol in Uganda.

The shocking incident occurred in Kampala, Uganda, on Saturday, September 19.

According to SDE, the late Kenneth Akena was a Child Protection Specialist working with an NGO in Western Uganda, and was engaged, finalizing plans for his wedding in February.

He was reversing his car from a parking lot when he scratched a more expensive car, throwing the owner into a fit of rage.

He got out of his car to go and apologise to the other driver, but the furious driver wanted to hear none of it; he shot him in the stomach.

The driver accused of shooting Akena says he saw the young man being shot but that he is not the one who did the shooting. He says some assassins have been stalking his (the alleged shooter's) Burundian girlfriend who fled political persecution from her country and was with him in the car. And that he suspects they mistook Akena for him and shot him accidentally.

However, Akena’s brother who got news of his shooting said he rushed to his hospital death bed. Akena's brother said Akena told him just before he died that he had been shot by the very person who had taken him to the hospital.

The matter is currently being investigated by the police.
