Juventus Weston McKennie suffers injury blow

Weston McKennie is set for a brief spell on the sidelines after suffering an injury in Juventus' 1-0 win over Lecce.

The American midfielder has featured regularly for the Old Lady during a shaky start to the season, but was forced off at half-time on Saturday and replaced by young Nicolo Fagioli.

It was McKennie's replacement who scored the only goal of the game to clinch a huge three points for Juve, but losing the American is yet more bad news for Massimiliano Allegri.

Gazzetta report that McKennie faces 'at least' two weeks out following an injury to his rectus femoris muscle in his quadricep, likely ruling him out for Juve in their final run of fixtures before domestic football comes to a pause for the World Cup.

Injjury at such a time of year not only causes problems for the Old Lady, who have been plagued by such issues all season, but also for the United States national team.

The 24-year-old has been capped 37 times for his nation and is expected to play a key role in their World Cup campaign when the tournament kicks off in Qatar in November. However, a two-week layoff would mean that, should recovery go to plan, he would be back in time to feature at the tournament.
