The Blues have had multiple bids knocked back for the defender already this summer as they look to fill the holes left by Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen's departures.

Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers was publicly defiant that Fofana would not be sold earlier this month, but the Frenchman has since been demoted to the Under-23s after missing a training session.

90min understands that Chelsea and Leicester have now agreed a fee for the 21-year-old, who grew up a fan of the Blues. The East Midlands club have long demanded an offer in the region of the £80m they sold Harry Maguire to Manchester United for in 2019, and Chelsea's bid of £70m plus another £10m in add-ons meets that threshold.

The two sides ironically face each other at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon, with Fofana not available for either of them.

Fofana enjoyed a stellar debut campaign in England during the 2020/21 season, but a broken leg suffered 12 months ago limited his appearances last year.
