Sebastien Haller to start chemotherapy for malignant testicular tumour
Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that Sebastien Haller will begin chemotherapy treatment as part of his battle against a malignant testicular tumour.
The new signing recently underwent surgery to remove a tumour which sporting director Sebastian Kehl confirmed went positively, adding that the Ivory Coast international will be out of action for the next 'few months'.
Kehl has now offered a further update, revealing that Haller will soon begin chemotherapy.
"Sebastien will now receive the best possible treatment," Kehl said. "The chances of recovery are very good.
"We wish him and his family a lot of strength and optimism and our thoughts are with him during this difficult time."
Manager Edin Terzic was recently asked whether he is expecting a replacement for Haller to be signed before the end of the summer transfer window, but he insisted he will not be the one to make that decision.
"You are alluding to an external solution," Terzic told ZDF. "My job is to take care of internal solutions. We have an excellent youth department, we have a couple of really good guys in our squad."
