The Argentine has agreed terms on a five-year deal at Old Trafford and is set to reunite with former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag.

Man Utd have agreed to pay the Dutch champions €55m for the versatile defender and he will become their third signing of the summer. Tyrell Malacia joined from Feyenoord last week, while Christian Eriksen completed his free transfer from Brentford on Friday.

Christian Bragarnik, part of Martinez's Scorefutbol agency, posted an image on his Instagram story later on Friday of the two on board a private aeroplane which is bound for Manchester. He will initially remain in England until the first team return from their tour of Asia and Australia.

Martinez turned down the advances of Arsenal in order to seal a move to Man Utd, who are continuing to work on a deal for Frenkie de Jong.

The Red Devils have agreed a deal totalling €85m for the Dutchman, but he is currently dragging his feet as he wants to be paid £17m in unpaid wages from Barça before leaving.
