Alexander Isak: Real Sociedad insist striker not for sale as Newcastle interest emerges
Real Sociedad have reiterated that they are not interested in selling striker Alexander Isak this summer amid emerging interest from Newcastle United.
90min can confirm that Newcastle - who are in the market for a couple of forwards including an additional central striker - are keeping close tabs on the 22-year-old.
Talks have taken place between intermediaries and the Magpies are seriously considering an offer for the highly-rated Swede.
However, Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay has insisted that the club do not want to lose Isak, who only signed a new five-year contract last summer which included a release clause of more than £70m.
That amount deterred Arsenal in January, and Aperribay appears in no mood to accept anything less.
Speaking at the press conference to confirm the captures of Spain international Brais Mendez and Frenchman Mohamed Ali-Cho, Aperribay stated that the club's prized assets are not available after being asked about Isak and Mikel Merino's availability.
"Clubs know that we do not want to sell," he said. "And that is our intention, not to sell any of those players."
Isak - who has been consistently linked with a move to England over the past 12 months - is also being linked with a move to Real Madrid to become Karim Benzema's understudy and possible long-term replacement.
