Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is considering a return to Ajax for a new midfield addition.
While Ten Hag is keen on Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, the Athletic says an alternative could emerge at Ajax this summer.
Ten Hag is a big fan of Mexico international Edson Alvarez and he believes the midfielder can handle the demands of the Premier League.
With Barca demanding €80m to sell De Boer, United could be forced to seek an alternative and Edson is under consideration.
