Updated: One dead, another rescued as Two-storey building collapses in Lagos

One person was confirmed dead while another was rescued, on Saturday, when a two-storey building collapsed on Lagos Island.

The incident occurred during the downpour.

The building under construction was located at Freeman Road, Lagos Island before the collapse was recorded in the afternoon.

The Lagos State Territorial District Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye who confirmed the incident at about 4.50 pm, said responders were on their way.

Two additional people have been rescued under the rubbles of the collapsed building which occurred at Freeman Street, Lagos Island, on Saturday.

This puts the number of those rescued at three as the rescue operation is ongoing.

The figure was confirmed by Ibrahim Farinloye, Coordinator, Lagos State Territorial District, National Emergency Management Agency NEMA.

So far, three people have been rescued while one body was recovered,” he said
