How To Fire Your Boss

How To Fire Your Boss

Some people see their job as a bigger commitment than any other: No matter how
awful the boss is, they are going to stay put.
Doesn’t matter that the boss may be literally killing them with all the unnecessary stress, some employees stay put. It’s like they are paralysed with fear at the thought of leaving-after all, the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t.

But, sometimes, your boss needs to be fired.
Sure, you can’t change the employment status of your boss very easily (although, it can be done), but you can certainly fire your boss by leaving. Inc.comshows you how to get out of a bad job into something better.

Make the decision
People talk about new jobs just falling in their laps! That does happen on occasion, but the reality is most people who find new jobs make a conscious decision to start looking for a new job. Commit yourself.

Start talking to people
Now, you do need to be careful so your boss doesn’t find out that you’re looking to leave, but you do need to speak up. While you can apply to jobs you find online, the best jobs are the hidden ones. What’s a hidden job? It’s one that hasn’t been posted yet or, in fact, doesn’t even exist until the right person appears. If you don’t start talking (some like to call this networking) you won’t find out about any of these hidden jobs.

Interview like you’re on a date
So many people go into job interviews just trying to impress the hiring manager, but remember, you want to move to a job that will be a better fit for you. This means you’re going to have to ask questions and find out about the company and culture. If you want to be happy working 40 plus hours a week with people, you need to find out about them as well.

Negotiate that job offer
If you get a job offer for N150, 000 a year and you ask for N300, 000, it’s not a good fit. But, if you are offered N150, 000 and ask for N160, 000, that’s a normal negotiation. If the company withdraws the offer because you negotiated, it’s a horrible place to work and thank your lucky stars you found out before you quit your current job.

Resign politely
While you may be tempted to scream at your boss that you are firing him, the way business works is that you’ll still need the reference-even if you have a new job already to go. The proper thing to say is, “Thank you so much for the opportunities I’ve had here.”

Anyone can do these steps. Don’t stay in a job you hate for longer than you have to. It’s easier to find a new job when you have a job, so don’t put off looking until you get fired. Go out there and get a new job so you can fire your awful boss.
