During his sold-out show at Madison Square Garden in New York City, Nigerian dancehall and afrobeats musician, Burna Boy, reportedly made more than N3 billion.
Tickets sold for as little as $80 and as much as $2,125, according to BusinessDay’s estimates. The average ticket cost $350.
With an official exchange rate of N415.33 and average sales of N145,365.50 ($350), the total revenue earned for a 20,789-seat stadium is $7,276,150 according to their calculations (N3,022,003,379.50).
To date, Burna Boy is the first Nigerian artist to headline a two-hour show at Madison Square Garden.
Among the artists who have sold out the world’s most famous arena are Nigerian musician Davido, who joins the likes of Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley and the Beatles as well as Mariah Carey, Adele, Rihanna, Jay Z and Justin Bieber.
