Jigawa State governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar on Wednesday formally joined the league of presidential aspirants for the 2023 general election.
Badaru Abubakar who is on the last lap of his second term in office as governor elected under the platform of All Progressives Congress reportedly broke the news to APC stakeholders in Jigawa last Tuesday.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Public Relations, Habibu Nuhu Kila confirmed the development to Reporters in Dutse on Thursday morning.
Killa said “It is true that Governor Badaru has travelled to Abuja to secure nomination form for the 2023 presidential election”
The Special Adviser explained that his principal has the necessary wherewithal to lead the country to the promised land.
He stated that Badaru Abubakar has the strength of character to change the tide if given the chance to succeed President Buhari, as he assured his readiness to continue “with his positive programs and policies”.
INDEPENDENT learnt that the sudden decision to draft Mr. Abubakar into the race might not be unconnected by the superstitious move by the opposition People’s Democratic Party to pick its presidential candidate from the north and the need for the ruling party to checkmate it to retain power.
