Jeffree Lynn Steininger Jr. well known as Jeffree Star is an American YouTuber, make-up artist, former singer and entrepreneur. He came to prominence as the founder and owner of the cosmetics brand, Jeffree Star Cosmetics.

He has studio album titled “Beauty Killer” as released in 2009, where he featured Nicki Minaj in one the songs “Lollipoo Luxury”. He signed to Konvict Muzik in 2010 and left the music industry in 2013 due to legal issues faced the labels owner.

Forbes unveiled Jeffrey as the fifth highest paid YouTuber, having earned $18 million from his YouTube endeavours alone in 2018.

Early Life

Jeffree Star was born on November 15, 1985 in Los Angeles, California, United States to parents; Marra Shubyann Lindstrom Steininger and Jeffrey L. Steininger. He grew up precisely in Orange County, California.

He went to Pacifica High School in Garden Grove, California. He changed his name to Jeffrey Star after graduating from hugh school in 2002. He relocated to Los Angeles where he began to equip himself with makeup, modelling and music jobs.

Career

Jeffree started up on the Myspsace platform where he shared his personal life. He also used the platform to promote his music and his fashiom design career.

He built large fan base on Myspace and also became known as one of the most popular independent artists.

He began doing music as an electronica and pop vocalist. He dropped his first and only studio album, Beauty Killer in 2009 which included the song “Lollipop Luxury” featuring Nicki Minaj.

He signed to Konvict Musik in 2010 and was described by the CEO of the label, Akon, as the “next Lady Gaga”. However, he left the music industry in 2013 while also stating her regret for signing to Akon’s record label. Star has worked with other musical performers such as Deuce and Larry Tee.

He founded the makeup brand, Jeffrey Star Cosmetics in 2014 and began promoting the brand through videos published on YouTube. He already boast of over 17 million subscribers on his YouTube channel.

Controversies

Jeffree Star has been faced with lots of controversies in the media space. She had issues with the tattoo artist Kat Von D who accused Star of racism and bullying. He also had issues with Tati Westbrook who accused Star and Shane Dawson of forcing her to upload a video attacking fellow YouTuber James Charles.

Star was accused of multiple instances of sexual assault in a report by journalist Kat Tenbarge in October 2020.

Jeffree Star was in a relationship with Nathan Schwandt from 2015 and they parted ways in January 2020.
