Zoe Kravitz is an American actress, model and singer. She became known for her role as Angel Salvadore in the superhero film, X-men: first class and also got more exposure as Christina in The Divergent series.

She is also a fashion model who became the face of YSL Beaute in 2017. She has appeared in campaigns for top brands like Balenciaga, Calvin Klein, Vera Wang and Alexander Wang. She is also a musician who already boast of two albums; Calm Down (2014) and Tenderness (2020).

Early Life

Zoe Kravitz was born on December 1, 1998 in Los Angeles, California, United States to parents, Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet. Hwr father, Lenny is a musician while her mother Lisa is an actress. Her parents are of half African-American and half Jewish descent.

Her parents divorved when she was five years old and she lived with her mother in Topanga Canyon, before she moved to Miami at the age of 11 to live with her mother. Her mother remarried to actor Jason Momoa. She has a younger half sister, Lola Iolani Momoa and a half brother, Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa.

Kravitz went to Miami Country Day School and Rudolf Steiner School in Manhattan. She also began studying at State University in New York. Although, she left college after a year and moved to Brooklyn, New York to focus on acting.

Career

Kravitz got her first film role in high school where she appeared in the 2007 romantic comedy No Reservations and in the action thriller The Brave One.

She starred in the family drama Birds of America and neo noir comedy Assasination of a High School President in 2008. She co-starred in the independent ensemble drama The Greatest in 2009 and in 2010, she featured in the romantic comedy Beware the Gonzo. She appeared in the films Yelling to the Sky and X-Men: first class in 2011. She co-starred in the film, After Earth in 2013

Kravitz portrayed the character Christiana in Divergent, appeared in the independent drama, The Road Within and in the romantic comedy Pretend We’re kissing. She has starred in other films such as; Dope, Green’s Aladdin, Gemini and so on.

As a singer, she began doing music at the age of 16 where she formed a band in 2009. The band performed at the South by Southwest music festival anf she also performed with the carabet troupe The Citizens band. She also began a band named Lolawolf and they released debut album titled “Calm Down” in October 2014. They also released a five track EP, Every Fuckin Day in June 2015.

As a model, Kravitz became the face of Vera Wang’s Princess fragrance in 2009 where she showed up on the website and in advertisement for the brand. She also appeared in a campaign for fashion designer Alexander Wang in 2010. She unveiled a jewelry line in 2013, in collaboration with the Swarovski crystal company.

She started dating actor Karl Glusman in 2016. They got engaged in Octoner 2018 and married in 2019. Kravitz and Glusman kater divorced in 2021.
