Why Jegede must be next governor, by Mimiko

Governor Olusegun Mimiko has explained that the best way to sustain his government’s achievements is to elect Mr. Eyitayo Jegede as his successor.

The governor said the injustice done to him by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by publishing Jimoh Ibrahim as candidate would not succeed.

He said, “the impunity would not stand” as they had appealed against the decision and were hopeful that they would get redress at the courts.

Mimiko said his administration’s programmes were people-friendly and only Jegede could effectively continue them, having served as the state’s attorney general.
He said: “All our programmes, from urban renewal to health and education are targeted at ensuring that we add value to the lives of our people.

“Those who need the help of government’s assistance most are the people at the lower rung of the ladder, who cannot afford decent transportation for their children to school.

“A few years ago, we had as many as five school children riding Okada morning and afternoon to attend schools. Those are the people that our government has helped.”

He said his administration’s free shuttle for school children was targeted not only at the poor, but those who had been disabled by the social inequality in the society.

The governor added that no successive administration would have the courage to scrap the free shuttle to schools because of its value.

“Unfortunately, the candidates at this election may not have the commitment and competence to continue the programmes, except Jegede who has been part of the vision,” he said.

He cited the modern schools built by his administration, to fit into the 21st century infrastructure to serve the people.

The governor added the healthcare service by his government had made pregnant women to have access to decent medical care.
