Everton boss Lampard reveals Calvert-Lewin plans for international week
Everton boss Frank Lampard admits he'll be working closely with Dominic Calvert-Lewin during the international break.
The striker is still waiting for his first goal of 2022 after missing four months of the current campaign with a quadriceps issue. Subsequent knocks have kept the 25-year-old out on some occasions throughout the last few weeks, but he did come off the bench to secure an all-important assist in Thursday's 1-0 win over Newcastle United.
Lampard said, "He's had a tough time with injuries. He's a good lad who wants the best, he's a young lad still.
"Now's a good time for us to work with him in the international break to get that edge, that fitness, to get robust. We'll need him, we want our big players who have delivered before to deliver again. His input last night (Thursday) can hopefully be the start of that for him.
"Players have got some selected days off for recovery, the ones that aren't away internationally. Then we've got blocks of days where some players can work hard.
"I think it's a good ten-day period to get some fitness in the bank for the run-in. Some players need it, who have not played so much having come off the back of a couple of injuries.
"Fabian Delph will be training with us next week as well. We'll construct the plans slightly individually for some, but collectively there will be good work."
