Moitheri Pheto who is popularly known with the moniker Terry Pheto, is a South African actress who came to prominence for her role in the television series, as Lerato in Justice for All, as Pinky Khumba in Zone 14.

She came through with her role in the film Tsotsi and gained more exposure in other films like Catch a Fire and How To Steal 2 million.

Early Life

Terry Pheto was born on May 11, 1981 in Mahikeng, South Africa and also grew up in Soweto.

Career

Pheto was discovered in a theatre group in Soweto by agent Moonyeenn Lee, during the casting process for Tsotsi.

She came through with her debut film feature in Tsotsi after which she showed up in other films such as; Goodbye Bafana, Catch a Fire and How To Steal 2 million.

She began to feature in several television series which include; as Lerato in Justice for All, as Pinky Khumba in Zone 14 and as Mbali in Jacob’s Cross. She also played the major role of Fikile in the SABC2 mini-series Hopeville, which was eventually adapted into a film.

Pheto left South Africa in 2011 for Hollywood and she got a recurring role of Dr. Malaika Maponya in the American soap opera The Bold and The Beautiful.

She has also featured in theatre productions like The Toilet and The Devils Protest.

Pheto is one of the prominent actress in South Africa and already boast of several endorsement deals. She became the new face of L’Oreal in July 2008 and had also been featured on several top magazines such as; Marie Claire, Elle, Cosmopolitan, Bona, Vanity Fair, Destiny and so on.

Terry Pheto was in a relationship with South African DJ and businessman, DJ Sbu in 2009 and parted ways in 2010.
