Barcelona president Laporta sacks medical chief Canal

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has sacked medical chief Ramon Canal.

Canal leaves his job today, with Dr. Xavier Corbella to be confirmed as his replacement next week, says AS.

Corbella is a recognised expert, responsible for Internal Medicine at Hospital de Bellvitge, with an extensive 'curriculum' in medical management and teaching, author of more than 110 publications and with a background of 150 conferences.

Currently, he also serves as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the International University of Catalonia (UIC).
