9 killed after gunmen go on shooting spree in Rivers state

Nine persons have been confirmed dead after unknown gunmen stormed Obrikom and Obur communities in Rivers state yesterday. According to a statement by the Rivers state Police spokesperson, Ahmad Muhammad, the gunmen attacked the community, killing 6 persons instantly while 3 others died on arrival at a hospital where they were rushed to for medical attention.

Two other persons are reported to have been injured and are currently receiving medical attention. The gunmen also set the home of a politician, Vincent Ogbagu, who is running for a seat in the state House of Assembly in the April 11th election, on fire.
