Sunshine Stars probe panel submit report

The probe panel set up to establish reasons for the Akure Gunners’ capitulation in the second round of the season has submitted their findings.
Chairman of the Ondo State Football Agency, Akin Akinbobola has received reports and recommendations of the probe panel set up to look into the allegations of possible sabotage in Sunshine Stars FC of Akure which allegedly aided the poor performance of the club in the second stanza of the 2013/2014 league season.

Receiving the reports at his office in Akure, the ODSFA Chairman while commending the committee for a job well done said the agency's leadership will take time to study the reports and recommendations with a view to implementing the useful deliberations of the probe panel and thus put an end to the strings of unimpressive results.

"I want to really thank you for accepting to serve in the first instance, I also say thank you for the good job you have all done as it will go a long way in guiding us to making decisions,” said Akinbobola.

"I want to assure you that the ODSFA leadership will take a critical look at the reports and recommendations with a view to act accordingly."

He also thanked the state governor for providing the enabling environment for success recorded at various levels and promised to always pursue the dreams and aspirations of the governor to use football as a means of giving future to the youths of the state.

Earlier, the Chairman of the probe panel, Lawrence Adegbehingbe, Director of Sports in the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports while thanking the agency for the opportunity to serve said the panel did a thorough job by interviewing all relevant stakeholders adding that their reports and recommendations if implemented would go a long way in improving the activities of the agency.

Other members of the probe panel included chairman of the coaches association in the state, Michael Fabomi, chairman of the referees council Bola Sekiteri-Ajayi, Sunshine Stars coordinator of Special Duties Divine Ogbonnaya while a retired referee Wande Fabuluje served as secretary.

The panel was set up to look into the activities of some stakeholders following series of poor results by Sunshine Stars in some away matches in the second round of the premier league as the team lost matches to Bayelsa United in Benin, Heartland in Owerri and Sharks in Port Harcourt and others under cloudy circumstances.
