A notorious bandit leader in Zamfara State, Bello Turji has released about 70 kidnapped victims in his custody.
The bandit leader is reported to have released the victims following a peace talk between him and the local authorities in the state.
Abdullahi Shinkafi, an aide to Governor Bello Matawalle, made this known in an interview with Channels Television on Tuesday.
Shinkafi disclosed that the victims were released unconditionally, adding that the freed persons will be moved to Gusau for profiling and medical treatment before they are released to their families.
He revealed that Turjii was responsible for the killings and kidnappings in Shinkafi, Sabon Birni, Isah local government areas of the state and some communities in Sokoto state.
Naija News recalls that scores of bandit leaders were killed by the Nigerian military during an air raid on bandit camps in Zamfara and Sokoto forests.
The bandits were killed during the military bombardment of their enclaves at Gusami Forest and Tsamre Village in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of Zamfara.
Among those killed include two notorious bandits named Alhaji Auta and Kachalla Ruga, while other notorious bandits like Alhaji Nashama, Shingi and Halilu were reportedly injured.
