Kimiko Elizabeth Glenn (born June 27, 1989) simply called Kimiko Glenn, is an award winning American actress and Broadway performer. She came to promimnece for her role of Brook Soso in the Netflix series, Orange is the New Black.

She is also well known for starring as Dawn Pinkett in the Broadway musical Waitress. She also provided the voices of Ezor in Voltron: Legendary defender, Bridgette Yoshida in Close Enough and Stefani Stilton in BoJack Horseman.

Early Life

Kimiko Glenn was born on June 27, 1989 in Phoenix, Arizona. She grew up in Arizona alongside her sister, Amanda.

She is of mixed ethnicity as her father, Mark Glenn, is of Scottish, Irish and German descent while her mother, Sumiko Glenn, is Japanese.

She went to Desert Vista High School in Phoenix and the Interlochen Arts Academy boarding school in Interlochen, Michigan.

She also attended the Boston Conservatory where she major in musical theatre, for a year before she eventually dropped out after being cast in the touring company of Spring Awakening.

Career

Glenn started acting in fifth grade. She was cast as Thea in the rock musical Spring Awakening, in 2008.

She came to limelight in 2013, for her role as Brook Soso in the Netflix comedy-drama series, Orange is the New Black.

She starred in the Lena Dunham directed music video “I Wanna Get Better” for Jack Antonoff’s project Bleachers, in 2014.

In 2016, she played the supporting role of Liv Kurosawa in the film, Nerve and was also cast as Dawn Pinkett in the Braodway musical Waitress.

Glenn began starring as Harlow in the Web TV series, Liza on Demand, in 2018, alongside Liza Koshy. She also became a guest presenter on the MTV show Catfish, in 2019.

Glenn provided the voices of Ezor in Voltron: Legendary defender, Bridgette Yoshida in Close Enough, Lena Sabrewing in DuckTales and Stefani Stilton in BoJack Horseman.

Awards & Nominations

Glenn won the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a comedy series at Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
