3 Things You Can Do To Change Your Career As An Artist In 2022

Managing your career as an independent artist is not easy and that's why we try to help with tips as to how you could do things differently to get get different results.

2021 was tough. Coming out of a pandemic and trying to recover made it tough for everyone including big and established stars. Regardless, a few artist have been able to break grounds. Wizkid, CKay, Ruger and others are grateful to 2021 for taking their career to another level.

As an independent artist who is more or less an entrepreneur, as you reflect on your journey in 2021 and make plans for 2022, here are a few things you can do to ensure 2022 bears the desired fruits for you.

1. Be More Professional

Music is an art. It is soiritual, lovely and fun but making money out of music and buidling a career in music is strictly business. You need to see things differently. Try limit the vibes and lamba and start doing this differently in a more professional way. Read up the standard of doings this in the industry and try to stick to it. Music is business!

2. Get a source of income and/or investor

Once you understand that music is business, you'll understand why you need money to thrive. No music survives with a zero captial. You need money to produce and most importantly market your music. It's either you are your own boss, raising your own funds and investing it in your career or you get someone to invest in you. Either way, you need money to thrive.

3. Build a team

You need a team if you must excel as an artist in our competitive music industry. You either build your own team from scratch or you partner with companies offering label services to help you out. You can't be your own manager, graphics designer, promoter, marketer, producer, sound engineer, etc. You need a team if you must succeed as a growing artist.
