Five giants in Laporta contact as Barcelona consider De Jong sale

Clubs across Europe are on red alert over the potential availability of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong.

After disappointing new coach Xavi, De Jong could be sacrificed in January to boost Barca's transfer budget.

And De Jong's situation has alerted major clubs across Europe, with Sport reporting at least five have been in touch with Barca president Joan Laporta to register their interest.

Paris St. Germain, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are all in contact.

Interestingly, City manager Pep Guardiola and sporting director Txiki Begiristain were in Barcelona yesterday for Sergio Aguero's retirement ceremony.
