United are seeking a new manager after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Manchester Evening News says Ten Hag presented his vision of the future development of the team to United's board.
According to the media source, the 51-year-old Dutchman spoke with the management of United and discussed how he would act if he led the team.
Ten Hag, meanwhile, distanced himself from United rumours yesterday.
