Iniesta, who currently plays for Japanese side Vissel Kobe, said many things have changed at Barcelona.

Barcelona are going through a difficult period both domestically and in Europe.

Ronald Koeman’s side have lost their last two games against Atletico Madrid in the LaLiga and Benfica in the Champions League.

But Iniesta, 37, believes they can get back on track.

“I will always see Barcelona in a good way because I still see a different team,” Iniesta told BBC.

“Many things have changed since then. Naturally, the players are different, but there’s still an idea, a concept.”

“Yes, it is something I hope to do [return to Barcelona],” he added.

“I would like it to happen because, more than anything, it’s the club I spent so many years at.

“You don’t know what’ll happen in the future, you don’t know in what way I could return or who’ll be the people in charge at a certain moment.

“But if you ask me if I would like to, the answer is yes.”

Iniesta spent 16 years at Barcelona.

The Spaniard won nine LaLiga titles and four Champions League trophies, among others.
