Many new Mac users may be wondering whether it is possible, and which are the steps to follow, to download an iOS app on their Mac.
Through the Mac App Store you can download the majority of the apps you've previously purchased through either your iPhone or your iPad.
While some developers have made certain apps to be compatible with your Mac's operating system, there are others which have yet to be optimised. There were ways to install the apps that were not compatible with macOS through third-party apps, but this year Apple disabled this option.
Here, we break down the steps to get those apps onto your Mac device.
Five steps for downloading iPhone or iOS apps onto a Mac
To download iOS apps from the Mac's App Store you just need to follow five easy and straightforward steps and you will have them installed in just a few seconds.
Open the Mac App Store.
Click on your profile in the app's bottom left.
Click 'iPhone & iPad Apps'.
Click on the download button of the app you are wishing to install in your Mac.
The process for the iOS app's is identical to any other Mac app. You can open the app through the Launchpad or the Applications folder.
Alternatively, you can search for the name of the iOS app you want to download in the Mac App Store and then just click on the 'iPhone & iPad Apps' tab, which appears just under the results list. This way you will be able to see which apps have been originally designed for iOS devices, while those apps which are not compatible with your Mac are labelled as 'Not Verified for macOS'.
As Apple stress on their website, if the app that you want doesn't appear in Launchpad, you can redownload the app. When you redownload an app, you don't have to pay for it again.
If you want to download an app that a family member bought from the App Store then redownload the app and make sure that you're both using Family Sharing.
