According to Atiku, the perpetrators of the incident must be brought to justice and the families of the victims to be pacified.

He wrote: The report about an attack on innocent travellers on a major highway in Plateau State stands condemned, just as those too numerous to mention across the country in recent time.

It is acknowledged that the security outfits are doing their very best in the current circumstance to make all of us safe. However, skirmishes like this and the pain accompanying it make us feel as though enough is not being done.

We must continue to pray and to give all moral and logistical support for security operatives to continue to face this battle and register victory that will restore peace and safety of lives and property to every Nigerian.

In a related development, The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has demanded the arrest of the members of the alleged Christian militia that reportedly killed 22 unarmed Muslim travellers in Rukuba, Jos, Plateau State, on Saturday.

In reaction to the killings that claimed the lives of the 22 Muslims, MURIC, in a statement signed by its Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, demanded the immediate arrest ofthe perpetrators of the crime.

The statement read: “Twenty two (22) unarmed Muslim travellers were brutally killed by a Christian militia group at Rukuba, Jos, Plateau State, today, Saturday, 14th August, 2021,”

“They must be brought to justice. They ran away from the crime scene when they saw security men approaching. But they had participated in the killing of twenty two (22) and wounding of fourteen (14) before taking to their heels.

“It is not possible for the six who were arrested to have been the only attackers. Only six attackers could not have surrounded people who filled five buses. The rest must be fished out.
