INSIDER: PSG coach Pochettino lacks qualities of Chelsea manager Tuchel
Paris Saint Germain regret sacking Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.
That's according to Liberation journalist Gregory Schneider, when speaking on L'Equipe du Soir.
After leading the club to a first ever Champions League final last year, Tuchel was sacked by Paris Saint Germain on Christmas Eve. He had also led Paris Saint Germain to a second consecutive Ligue Une title last season, adding to the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue triumphs to mark a famous Treble for the Parisians.
However, that still wasn't enough to save Tuchel from the axe during last season - a decision he admits he never saw coming.
Quoted by Le 10 Sport, Schneider said, "Being a PSG coach is very difficult. It's a club where the players have power. There is a hiatus between Doha and the players. The trainer is often in the blind spot and it gets out of hand.
"Tuchel ticked a lot of boxes. He's clever, he's alive. He's a bit of an illusionist and someone who knows how to stir something up in guys. He was not just anyone while the other (Mauricio Pochettino) is a bit like Obelix's menhir. I'm a little afraid that in the long run, he will not have this capacity that Tuchel had to bring things back to the surface."
Tuchel since went onto to lead Chelsea to victory in the Champions League final against Manchester City. Pochettino, meanwhile, saw PSG fail to defend their Ligue 1 title, surrendering it to Lille.
