Barcelona prepared to axe contract rebel Ilaix to youth team for season

Barcelona are prepared to axe Ilaix Moriba from even Sergi's B team if he continues to refuse to sign a new contract.

Sport says president Joan Laporta is determined not to give in to the demands of young midfielder Ilaix, who is yet to agree to a new contract with the club.

In light of what has already gone on at the club, Ilaix is currently playing with fire. He has already been demoted to the Barça B squad this pre-season, and if the negotiations do not start to move in the right direction he could be dropped even further to the youth team.

The latest round of negotiations have ended without an agreement. Despite sporting director Mateu Alemany's attempts to re-open negotiations with Ilaix and find a solution that suits both parties, no such agreement has been reached to date.

The midfielder and his entourage feel that the player warrants a much higher salary than the one on offer.
