Juan Mata ready to sign new Man Utd contract
Juan Mata is ready to sign a new contract with Manchester United.
The Manchester Evening News says Mata would like to remain at Manchester United even though his contract expired when the clock struck midnight last night.
The 33-year-old has been on the Red Devils' books since January 2014 but he has fallen down the pecking order under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
As such, Old Trafford chiefs have reservations about activating a clause in Mata's contract which would keep him for another year.
The arrival of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund will further increase the competition for minutes in attack, meaning Mata's future remains uncertain despite his preference to stay at United.
