Newcastle seek replacement for long-time head of sports science
Jamie Harley has left his position as head of sports science at Newcastle United.
ChronicleLive reports Harley has left on good terms and has nothing but positive things to say about those he worked with during his 11 seasons at St James' Park.
Indeed, in his farewell message on Twitter, Harley confirmed he had sampled 'experiences he will never forget' before confirming it was 'time for a new challenge'.
Harley has quietly played a crucial role behind the scenes at Newcastle - working under Chris Hughton, Alan Pardew, John Carver, Steve McClaren, Rafa Benitez and Steve Bruce - and eagle-eyed supporters will have spotted him warming the players up on match days.
Newcastle advertised for the position earlier this month, welcoming applications from external candidates, and the Magpies are targeting an individual who can 'lead, deliver and enhance the club's sports science provision in line with the club's strategic goals to prevent injury and enhance individual and team performance within the first-team squad'.
