Rino Gattuso and Fiorentina splits after just weeks into appointment
Rino Gattuso has left Fiorentina just weeks after his appointment as coach.
Just hours after it was confirmed he was leaving Napoli, Gattuso was named new coach of the Viola. But it's now been announced this morning he is leaving the job.
Fiorentina announced: “ACF Fiorentina and Mr. Rino Gattuso, by mutual agreement, have decided not to follow up on the previous agreements and therefore not to start the next season together. The Club immediately got to work to identify a coach who will guide the Viola team towards the results Fiorentina and the City of Florence deserve."
Gazzetta dello Sport says at the heart of the split was agent Jorge Mendes. Gattuso had wanted to lean on the Portuguese this summer, but president Rocco Commisso refused to consider working with Mendes.
Commisso is insistent that Fiorentina should not be tied to working the market through one agent.
