Foden has just been named the Premier League's Young Player of the Year.

“Back in 2008, my first visit to the Manchester - my first day, as chairman of this club - I visited Platt Lane," Khaldoon told the club's website.

“I was taking a tour and I was introduced by the coaches to a young lad, eight or seven years old back then.

“And they told me this boy is a very special boy, you should say hello to him.

“I said, yeah, it'd be a pleasure. So, they brought this boy called Phil and that eight-year-old started in the Champions League final for Manchester City.

“That's the value of a great academy. That's the story of evolution."
