Police Arrest Chocolate City Boss Audu Maikori

The chairman of Chocolate City, Audi Maikori was arrested by men of the Nigerian Police Force at his home in Lagos few hours ago and has already been flown to ABUJA where he is currently under detention at the force headquarters.

It is believed that he was arrested following his advocacy and request that the killings in Southern Kaduna be stopped.

Maikori at a time reported a story about the killing of five university students by suspected Fulani herdsmen. The news turned out to be false and he tendered an apology for the misinformation.

Chairman NHRC who raised the alarm on twitter said Audu was arrested on a warrant from Magistrates in Kaduna

He tweeted;
“It appears @policeNG have take @Audu on charges of alleged “incitement”, a colonial era crime against vocal advocates for freedom”

“It looks like some folks pretty high up want @Audu to at least spend the week-end in detention for raising his voice on #SouthernKaduna”

Audu's partner, Chocolate City music president, MI Abaga also confirmed Audu’s arrest on Twitter.

The rapper joined hordes of other activists on Twitter to condemn Audu’s arrest and demand his immediate release.
