Spurs star Bale discussing shock summer retirement
Gareth Bale is considering a shock retirement after Wales' Euros campaign.
Bale, 31, who spent last season on loan at Tottenham from Real Madrid, has refused to be drawn on talk of his future, insisting in recent days that his focus is firmly on the job ahead for his country at the European Championships.
But ABC says Bale is now plotting to bring a swift end to his illustrious career by negotiating the end of his contract with Real and walking away from the sport altogether.
The superstar has held discussions with his family over the move to end his playing days and that he could be willing to give up as much as half of his final year's salary in a bid to terminate his deal and walk away from the Spanish capital.
Speaking after Tottenham's final-day victory over Leicester City, Bale insisted that he was not in a position to reveal his future plans as yet.
"It just has to happen after the Euros," he told Sky Sports. "I know what I'm doing but it'll just cause chaos if I say anything now.
"I am not thinking about anything other than Wales"
