Early surge helps Aston Villa secure FAYC final victory over Liverpool
Aston Villa have claimed the FA Youth Cup with a 2-1 win over Liverpool on Monday.
Villa raced into a two-goal lead within 12 minutes thanks to Ben Chrisene and Brad Young.
Liverpool fought hard to get back into the game but struggled to put Villa under immense pressure.
Mateusz Musialowski and Max Woltman both had opportunities for the Reds.
But it was substitute Melkamu Frauendorf who managed to pull one back, with his volley diverted into the net by Seb Revan with 17 minutes remaining.
The few thousand in attendance at Villa Park surely helped their side as they hung on for a famous victory.
It is the first time Villa has won the trophy since 2002 and the fourth time in their history.
